Springfield – MoDOT celebrates 30 years of Traffic Incident Management this year, having taken its first step with Traffic Incident Management efforts in 1993 with the creation of the Motorist Assist program. In the last three decades, MoDOT has also created dedicated Transportation Management Centers like the Transportation Management Center of the Ozarks, a facility jointly owned and operated by MoDOT and the City of Springfield. In 2022, MoDOT Emergency Response staff based in Springfield handled 3,260 incidents across the 21 counties that comprise the Southwest District.
MoDOT is celebrating the 30th anniversary of this program that provides dedicated crews who patrol local interstates, assisting stranded motorists and helping to get incidents cleared as quickly and safely as possible with a special event. Here are the details:

The event will commence with a media briefing and opportunity to hear from Emergency Operations staff, followed by a tour of the Transportation Management Center of the Ozarks and the Emergency Operations fleet.
