MoDOT to extend I-55 lane closures to Lindbergh next week

ST. LOUIS – Drivers on Interstate 55 heading into or leaving the city of St. Louis can expect additional shifted traffic lanes along the corridor next week as part of on-going work along I-55.

Due to scheduling conflicts , the originally scheduled work has been delayed.

Wednesday, June 14, starting at 7 p.m., crews will close two northbound lanes between Lindbergh and Reavis Barracks.  One lane will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning, but the leftmost lane will remain closed through fall 2024.

Thursday, June 15, starting at 7 p.m., crews will close the two left southbound lanes between Reavis Barracks and Lindbergh.  These lanes will remain closed through fall 2024.

Crews will be working on reconstructing the median walls between the northbound and southbound lanes, as well as building the crossovers to shift traffic for the work on the bridges over Gravois Creek and Green Park later this year.

All work is weather permitting.

This project replaces or renovates 13 bridges that carry the interstate in both directions between Interstate 44 in the city of St. Louis and Lindbergh.

All stages of the project are expected to conclude in early 2025.
