U.S. Route 40 now open in Howard County

Bonne Femme Creek Bridge deck replacement project wrapping up

Jefferson City, MO – Just in time for the holiday weekend, travelers are now able to use the Bonne Femme Creek on U.S. Route 40 in Howard County, southeast of New Franklin. After closing in March for a bridge deck replacement project, contractors working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) were able to reopen the bridge to all traffic this morning, Friday, May 26.

While motorists are once again able to use the bridge, work will continue next week as the contractor finishes the final stages of the job. During weekday, daylight hours May 29 through June 9, the roadway will be narrowed to one lane at the bridge and temporary traffic signals will be in place to guide traffic through the work zone.

More information about this project is available at https://www.modot.org/Howard40BonneFemmeCreek. All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

MoDOT asks all motorists to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down and moving over in work zones.
