MoDOT to close eastbound/westbound lanes of Interstate 70 at Zumbehl Road May 5-8

ST. CHARLES COUNTY – Drivers traveling on eastbound and westbound Interstate 70 at Zumbehl Road can expect higher levels of congestion and delays starting Friday, May 5, at 10 p.m. through Monday, May 8 at 5 a.m. Crews will be closing all lanes of I-70 at Zumbehl to demolish the old bridge during the weekend closure. All work is weather permitting.

Traffic in both directions of I-70 will be routed up and over the ramps. Northbound and Southbound traffic on Zumbehl will be closed between West Clay and Veterans Memorial Parkway so drivers can utilize Hawk’s Nest or Cave Springs as alternatives. I-70 Drivers can use Route 370 as an alternate route.

Crews have two more overnight closures of Zumbehl next week before switching traffic over to the new bridge in preparation to demolish the old bridge. Nightly closures on Zumbehl will occur Monday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 2 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic on Zumbehl Road will be switched onto the new bridge on Wednesday, May 3.

The Cave Springs and Zumbehl interchanges are being converted into single point urban interchanges (SPUI) for the I-70 Cave Springs to Fairgrounds Design-Build Project. As construction on this project progresses, both interchanges will remain open to drivers.
