ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The northbound bridge over the Nishnabotna River will open Friday, April 21, following a joint repair. Northbound traffic that was diverted to the southbound bridge will now be switched back to the north bridge.
Phillips Hardy, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, closed the bridge at the beginning of March to complete the repair following the rehabilitation project of the north and southbound bridges located just south of the Iowa state line.
Crews will still be on site completing shoulder work. During that time, traffic will be reduced to one lane. The tentative completion for this project is May. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
This bridge, along with the southbound bridge, is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
