Vernon County Route KK/Dry Wood Creek Bridge CLOSED for Rehabilitation Beginning Week of April 24

Vernon County – The Vernon County Route KK bridge over Dry Wood Creek west of Nevada will be CLOSED for up to 90 days while contractor crews rehabilitate the bridge starting the week of April 24, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will remove and replace the bridge deck/driving surface. The project also includes adding new barrier walls, object markers and permanent striping.

Traffic Impacts:

  • All lanes of Vernon County Route KK CLOSED where crews are working
  • Drivers will have access to entrances at either end of the bridge, but will not be able to drive through the work zone
  • No signed detour
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes to avoid work zone
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.

The Dry Wood Creek bridge was built in 1960 and carries approximately 250 vehicles per day.

  • Prime Contractor: Mera Excavating, LLC; Loose Creek, Mo.
  • Completion Date: September 1, 2023
  • Total project cost: $717,000
