ST. LOUIS – Drivers on Interstate 55 heading into or leaving the city of St. Louis should be prepared for shifted traffic lanes as crews move into the next stage of work on bridges on I-55.
This project replaces or renovates 13 bridges that carry the interstate in both directions between Interstate 44 in the city of St. Louis and Lindbergh.
Monday, March 13, starting at 8 a.m., crews will close the ramp from Arsenal to southbound I-55. Starting at 9 a.m. after morning rush, crews will close one additional lane on southbound I-55, for a total of three closed lanes at Arsenal to shift southbound traffic into the northbound lanes. The shift should be complete and the third lane reopened by 3 p.m.
If necessary, crews will complete the traffic shift on Tuesday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
When the shift is complete, drivers will have two lanes in each direction open for travel on I-55 between I-44 and Bayless.
All work is weather permitting.
All stages of the project are expected to conclude in early 2025.
