Route 5 to Narrow in Morgan and Moniteau Counties

Guardrail improvements planned between Tipton and Versailles

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Route 5 will narrow to one lane next week in Morgan and Moniteau counties. Starting Monday, March 6, Capital Paving and Construction Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), will improve the guardrail on Missouri Route 5 from U.S. Route 50 in Tipton (Moniteau County) to Route 52 near Versailles (Morgan County). Work is expected to continue through June 2023.

Short, single-lane closures on Route 5 are scheduled 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday, through June, with flaggers directing motorists through the work zone.

Following the completion of the guardrail work, paving will begin on Route 5 south of Versailles and continuing to the Niangua Bridge, south of Greenview. The project is expected to be completed by Nov. 1, 2023.

All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. Motorists are advised to use extra caution through work zones, obey all traffic signs, and avoid any distractions.
