JEFFERSON CITY – The October 2022 appointments by Gov. Mike Parson of Warren K. Erdman and Brian Treece to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission were confirmed by the Missouri Senate last week.
Erdman is executive vice president-administration and corporate affairs for Kansas City Southern (KCS). Prior to joining KCS in 1997, Erdman served as chief of staff to U.S. Senator Christopher S. “Kit” Bond of Missouri. He also served former Governors John Ashcroft in 1985 and Kit Bond in 1981 and 1984. Erdman is involved in numerous civic organizations. He is a former member of the University of Missouri Board of Curators from 2005 until 2012 and served as chairman of that board. He is a member of the UMKC Foundation board. He is a member of the Westminster College Board of Trustees and is also an alum. Erdman serves on the executive committee and board of directors of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Kansas City Downtown Council. Erdman and his wife, Jenny, live in Kansas City and are the parents of two grown children.
Treece was elected mayor of Columbia, Missouri, in 2016 on a platform of public safety and infrastructure. He was re-elected in 2019. As mayor, Treece worked with local, state, and federal officials to secure $500 million in public infrastructure improvements including the new Interstate 70 Rocheport Bridge and Columbia Regional Airport terminal. Treece also serves as Vice-President of strategy and development for EquipmentShare.com, a construction technology company founded in Columbia, Missouri. Treece is a frequent lecturer and spokesperson on industry issues, advocacy, and political analysis. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia where he studied political science and journalism. He has more than thirty years of experience as a trusted advisor and strategic consultant on communications issues. Treece and his wife live in Columbia.
The terms of Erdmann, a Republican, and Treece, a Democrat, expire March 1, 2027. They have been serving on the Commission since their appointment on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is a six-member citizens’ board that governs the Missouri Department of Transportation. Commission members are appointed to staggered six-year terms by the governor and are confirmed by the Missouri Senate. No more than three members may be of the same political party.
