TRAFFIC ALERT: Expect Traffic Delays on I-49 in Jasper County Thursday, Jan. 19 for Utility Work

Where: I-49 in Jasper County between Route HH and I-44 near Carthage

When: For a short time between 1 a.m.-3 a.m., Thursday, January 19

What: Traffic slowed in both directions to allow contractor crews to work on a utility line over the interstate

Traffic Impacts:

  • On ramps CLOSED in both directions at these locations:
    • Jasper County Route HH (Fir Road)-to-southbound I-49 (Exit 50) at Carthage
    • Southbound Missouri Route 571 (Grand Avenue)-to-southbound I-49 (Exit 50) at Carthage
    • Westbound I-44-to-northbound I-49 (Exit 18) at Fidelity
    • Eastbound I-44-to-northbound I-49 (Exit 18) at Fidelity
  • Law enforcement will slowly lead I-49 traffic through work zone
  • Drivers will experience delays while utility crews do their work
  • No signed detours
  • Signs and message boards will alert traffic approaching the work zone
  • Drivers urged to consider alternate routes
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
