Lane and ramp closures scheduled for portions of northbound and southbound U.S. 71/I-35 Jan. 18-19

 

JACKSON COUNTY – Bridge repairs will require various lane and ramp closures on northbound and southbound U.S. 71 beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily on both Wednesday, Jan. 18, and Thursday, Jan. 19. This work is anticipated to cause significant delays along U.S. 71/I-35. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, leave early, and consider alternate routes. All work is weather permitting.

  • Wednesday, Jan. 18
    • Beginning at 8:30 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m.:
      • The entrance ramp from Blue River Road to southbound U.S. 71 will be closed.
      • The exit ramp to Bannister Road from southbound U.S. 71 will be closed.
      • The right through lane southbound U.S. 71 will also be closed from Blue River to Bannister Rd.
  • Thursday, Jan. 19
    • Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, until approximately 3 p.m.
      • Crews will CLOSE the left lane of northbound I-35/U.S. 71 along the east side of the downtown loop at 12th Street.
      • Crews will close the eastbound I-670 ramp to northbound I-35/U.S. 71.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
