Bridge expansion joint replacement to reduce portion of westbound I-435 to two lanes Dec. 6 - 22

JACKSON COUNTY – Crews will be shifting into the second phase of the bridge expansion joint replacements that will require the following traffic changes beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 a.m. Crews will be shifting the triple left lane closure to a triple right lane closure. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., crews will open all currently closed left hand lanes. After rush hour, they will close the three right most lanes of westbound I-435 between Three Trails Crossing and 103rd Street.

These repairs require westbound Interstate 435 to be reduced to two lanes between Three Trails Crossing and 103rd Street. This closure will be in place 24/7 during this time period and is anticipated to cause significant delays. Additionally, these repairs will require the following ramp closures (please note that this information has been updated):

  • One lane on the ramp from southbound I-435 to westbound I-435 will be closed. One lane will remain open.
  • Two lanes on the ramp from westbound I-470 to westbound I-435 will be closed. One lane will remain open.
  • NEW: The ramp from southbound U.S. 71 to westbound I-435 will be CLOSED.
  • NEW: The ramp from Bannister Road to westbound I-435 will be CLOSED.
  • NEW: The ramp from northbound I-49 to westbound I-435/I-470 will be OPENED.
  • NEW: The ramp from Red Bridge Road to I-435/I-470 will be OPENED.

This work is expected to cause significant traffic impacts to westbound I-470, northbound I-49, southbound I-435, and southbound U.S. 71. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, leave early, or seek alternate routes if possible. All work is weather permitting.
