Atchison County U.S. Route 136 pavement improvement project to pause for the winter

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – A resurfacing and shoulder improvement project on Atchison County U.S. Route 136 is shutting down for the winter and will resume in early 2023. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Phillips Hardy, Inc. to complete the project.

The temporary traffic signals which have been guiding motorists through the work zone have been removed. A date for all work to resume in 2023, and the temporary traffic signals to be re-installed, has not yet been determined.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

MoDOT asks drivers to work with us by always buckling up, keeping your phone down, slowing down and moving over in work zones. Know before you go and check what work zones you might encounter at traveler.modot.org.
