MoDOT to Hold Public Meeting for Route 25/K Project at Gordonville, MO

SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 to discuss improvements to the intersection of Route 25 and Route K in Gordonville, Missouri. The meeting will be held at Gordonville Elementary School, located at 653 Route Z in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

The project includes constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Route 25 and Route K.

“We conducted a study to examine installing a traffic signal or constructing a roundabout in this location,” said MoDOT Project Manager Tim Pickett. “Through the study, the preferred alternate was to construct a roundabout. The proposed roundabout will help traffic flow efficiently and will result in fewer delays during non-peak hours.”

Visitors can stop-by anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. to discuss the details of the project with the MoDOT project team.

The project is expected to be let in May 2023, with construction beginning as early as summer 2023. Construction will be staged to allow the area to remain open with minor, short-term lane closures as connections are made to the existing pavement. Completion is anticipated in winter 2023.
