St. Joseph, Mo. – The eastbound lanes of the U.S. Route 36 Pony Express Bridge over the Missouri River are now open. Contractors from Comanche Construction Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, restored eastbound traffic to two lanes yesterday, Wednesday, Nov. 9, ahead of schedule.
Phase 2 of construction continues as the contractor works to complete rehabilitation of the westbound U.S. Route 36 over the bridge. This work includes the continued closure of the ramp from Route 759 (Stockyards Expressway) to westbound U.S. Route 36. The project is expected to be complete on, or before, Dec. 1.
The 12-foot width restriction for westbound traffic will remain in place and motorists may experience delays for the duration of the project. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
