ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – A resurfacing project is scheduled to begin this week on four routes across Daviess, Gentry, Harrison and Worth counties. On Thursday, Nov. 3, contractors from Herzog Contracting Corp., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will mill off portions of Daviess County Route AA, Gentry/Harrison County Route ZZ, Harrison County Route EE and Gentry/Worth County Route N to prepare the roads for resurfacing. Milling will be done under a single-lane closure with flaggers directing motorists through the work zone.
Beginning Friday, Nov. 4, Daviess Route AA will close in 2-mile increments for an asphalt overlay. Crews will begin at Route Z and work north to Route T near McFall. Daily closures on Route AA are expected to continue through Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Crews plan to work daylight hours, Monday through Saturday. Motorists will need to use an alternate route during the daily closures.
Following the completion of Route AA, three more routes in this bundle of resurfacing projects are expected to close, also in 2-mile increments:
- Nov. 9 – 15: Route ZZ, starting at Gentry County Route T in McFall and moving north to Harrison County U.S. Route 136 at New Hampton
- Nov. 16 – 22: Harrison County, Route EE starting at Route M and working south to U.S. Route 136 at New Hampton
- Nov. 23 – 30: Route N, starting from Route M in Worth County to U.S. Route 136 in Gentry County
Following the asphalt work, crews will place rock on the shoulders and stripe these four routes, before the contractor pauses work on the project for the winter.
All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled.
When work resumes in 2023, Herzog Contracting Corp. plans to resurface the three routes remaining in this bundle: Nodaway/Atchison County Route C, Nodaway County Route KK, and Nodaway County Route D.
Holt County Route B has already been completed as part of this bundle of resurfacing projects.
