U.S. Route 54 Open at Basinger Corner in Audrain County

Route J remains closed for final work

HANNIBAL –   The new roundabout on U.S. 54 between U.S. 54/ MO 19/Route J intersection and CR 509 in Audrain County, known as Basinger Corner, opened to traffic yesterday, Tuesday, September 20.

“The completion of this phase and the reopening of U.S. 54 marks a significant milestone in the project as traffic is shifted onto the new roundabout,” explained Missouri Department Area Engineer Jeff Kroner.  “Access to Route J will continue to remain closed until the completion of the project while work continues on the remaining portion of the roundabout, tie-ends and removals,” he added.

Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. was awarded the contract by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission earlier this year for $4,117,988 with a completion date of December 1, 2022.
