HANNIBAL – Drivers can expect to experience a smoother ride on nearly 13 miles of Route A in Lincoln and Warren counties from Route DD in Lincoln County to I-70 near Pendleton in Warren County. Resurfacing operations are scheduled to begin, weather permitting, by the end of next week with an estimated completion date near the end of October.
“Temporary traffic impacts can be expected over the next month as traffic will be reduced to one lane during daytime hours at the location where crews are actively working, Monday through Friday, with a 10-foot width restriction in place,” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Jeff Niemeyer. “Flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized to direct motorists through the work zone,” he added. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
“Safety is our top priority. For the safety of our crews and the traveling public, we would like to remind drivers to be attentive, especially in work zones, by eliminating distractions and putting down your cell phone,” Niemeyer said.
The $1.9M contract, awarded last year to Pace Construction Company, includes two additional projects at the following locations:
- Route TT in Warren and St. Charles counties – resurfacing from Missouri Route 94 near Dutzow to Route T in St. Charles County. (Near Completion)
- Route U in Lincoln and Warren counties – Resurfacing from Route 47 to Route J south junction near Troy. The length of the improvement is 8.9 miles. (Complete)
With an increased number of highway work zones in Missouri, it is super important all drivers pay attention every second while driving, especially through a work zone. Be informed of your route by checking the MoDOT Traveler Information Map before you leave to see if you will encounter any work zones. You can also subscribe to counties, various routes or even projects online at Customer Service Signon (mo.gov). Be sure you and all your passengers are buckled up, and please put the phone down while driving.
