Resurfacing Scheduled to Begin on Missouri Route 15 in Knox and Shelby Counties

HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, the week of September 19, contractor crews will begin resurfacing on 32 miles of Missouri Route 15 in Knox and Shelby counties from the Missouri Route 6 north junction in Edina to Missouri Route 168 in Shelbyville.

“Resurfacing work will include the addition of two-foot shoulders and rumble stripes along with guardrail work that has been previously completed,” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Amy Crawford.  “During this stage of the project, traffic will be reduced to one lane where crews are actively working.  Flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized in directing traffic through the work zone,” she added. All work will completed during daylight hours. This project is scheduled to be completed by late October.

This contract includes two additional projects for sidewalk improvements which are being completed as part of MoDOT’s initiative for compliance with the current standards of the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA). See below for details and locations:

  • Knox County, Route P - ADA improvements from west city limits to Fulton Street in Edina.
  • Knox County, Route BB - ADA improvements from Missouri Route 15 to Plevna Place in Plevna.

We ask that motorists please be attentive in work zones for their safety and the safety of highway workers.  Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur.

This contract was awarded last fall to W.L. Miller Company of Hamilton, Illinois in the amount of $4,950,300.

With an increased number of highway work zones in Missouri, it is super important all drivers pay attention every second while driving, especially through a work zone.  Be informed of your route by checking the MoDOT Traveler Information Map before you leave to see if you will encounter any work zones.  You can also subscribe to counties, various routes or even projects online at Customer Service Signon (mo.gov).  Be sure you and all your passengers are buckled up, and please put the phone down while driving.
