MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: Traffic Pattern Changes at I-44 (mile marker 84) & Mulroy Road In Springfield

Thursday & Friday, August 25 & 26

Where/When:

  • Westbound I-44 on-ramp (mile marker 84) OPEN to traffic at 5 p.m. Thursday, August 25
  • Both eastbound I-44 lanes (mile marker 84) OPEN to traffic Friday afternoon, August 26
  • Eastbound I-44 on- and off-ramps (mile marker 84) CLOSED to traffic Friday afternoon, August 26
  • Missouri Route 744/Mulroy Road Bridge over I-44 CLOSED in Springfield

What: Contractor crews will OPEN I-44 eastbound lanes and CLOSE I-44 eastbound on- and off-ramps to remove temporary asphalt and install pavement markings. This is part of the I-44 Pavement Improvement and Missouri Route 744 Bridge Rehabilitation Project. This project also includes the Chestnut Expressway Pavement Improvement Project between I-44 and Broadview Place which was completed June 17, 2022.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Eastbound I-44 on- and off-ramps (mile marker 84) CLOSED to traffic Friday afternoon, August 26
  • Missouri Route 744/Mulroy Road Bridge CLOSED in Springfield
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Drivers should look for an alternate route
  • Signed detour includes: U.S. Route 65, Missouri 744/Kearney Street, Greene County Route OO, Missouri Route 125
  • Crews will work both daytime and nighttime hours
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
