REMINDER/UPDATE: Ramp Closure in Jefferson City

Closure Scheduled to Begin Wednesday, August 17

August 15, 2022 -- This release has been updated to show that work has been pushed back to begin Wednesday, August 17. Crews will close the ramp later Wednesday morning after the morning commute period.

CALLAWAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) reminded motorists today of the planned closure of the southbound U.S. Route 63 connector ramp north of Jefferson City. Contractors will close the southbound Route 63 exit ramp to westbound U.S. Route 54 in order to safely complete rehabilitation work on the bridge over Oilwell Road.

While the project was originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday, August 16, MoDOT says that work has been pushed back to begin Wednesday, August 17. Crews will close the ramp later Wednesday morning after the morning commute period.

For approximately two weeks, motorists will be detoured around the closure via eastbound Route 54 to Summit Drive, where they will turn around and head westbound. Message boards are in place to inform drivers of the closure and detour.

This work is part of a project to improve the driving surface and complete bridge rehabilitation work along Route 63 from Route B in Boone County to Route 54 north of Jefferson City. A contractor working for MoDOT is also upgrading guardrail and making improvements to several bridges.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
