Planned inspection to close Double-decker Bridge in St. Joseph

St. Joseph, Mo. – The Double-decker bridge on Interstate 229, along the west side of St. Joseph, is due for an annual bridge inspection. For the safety of both motorists and crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation, the bridge and all ramps between U.S. Route 36 and Highland Avenue will remain closed from 7 a.m. Monday, August 22, through the afternoon of Friday, August 26.

During the week-long closure, MoDOT bridge inspection crews will conduct an under-bridge inspection and local signal and lighting crews will complete necessary repairs.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change. Motorists will need to seek an alternate route during the closure.

MoDOT asks drivers to work with us by always buckling up, keeping your phone down, slowing down and moving over in work zones. Know before you go and check what work zones you might encounter at traveler.modot.org.
