ST. LOUIS – Drivers who use the ramp from Lewis Road to head west on Interstate 44 will need to determine alternate routes, starting next week, as crews close a ramp through late 2023.
As part of bridge rehabilitation work on the bridges crossing the Meramec west of Lewis Road, crews will close the ramp from Lewis Road to westbound I-44, starting at 6 p.m. August 8. The ramp and the ramp lane allowing traffic to accelerate to highway speed heading west will be closed for construction on the eastbound and westbound bridges.
The ramp is expected to remain closed through the end of December, due to anticipated restrictions and shifted traffic as crews complete the necessary rehabilitation work on the bridges. The ramp is projected to reopen over the winter. It will close again next year when the construction on the bridges continues.
For the remainder of this year, drivers can also expect various off-peak lane closures on the westbound bridge over the Meramec near Eureka.
The marked detour for the closure will be to take Interstate 44 eastbound to Antire Road (Exit 269), cross over the interstate and get on westbound I-44.
