New Date: Westbound U.S. Route 36 and Route 759 ramps to now close Aug. 8

U.S. Route 36 Missouri River bridges rehabilitation project in St. Joseph

St. Joseph, Mo. – The closure of both westbound on/off ramps at U.S. Route 36 and Route 759 (Stockyards Expressway) in St. Joseph has been postponed by one week. Contractors from Comanche Construction Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation to rehabilitate the U.S. Route 36 Pony Express Bridges over the Missouri River, now expect the ramps to close Monday, Aug. 8.

Crews have been moving into Phase 2 of construction which includes shifting westbound U.S. Route 36 traffic from the passing lane to the driving lane, prompting the closure of both westbound U.S. Route 36 and Stockyards Expressway ramps. The ramps will remain closed through completion of the project, expected on or before Dec. 1.

The 12-foot width restriction will remain in place and motorists may experience delays for the duration of the project. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
