Seven bridges to be rehabilitated on U.S. Route 24 in Carroll County

ST. JOSEPH, Mo – A bridge rehabilitation project in Carroll County will bring improvements to seven bridges on U.S. Route 24 near Carrollton. Crews from Capital Paving and Construction, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will begin work on the first two bridges on Monday, Aug. 8:

  • U.S. Route 24/Benton Street over U.S. Route 65 in Carrollton
    • Aug. 8 – mid-November
    • One lane, each direction, will remain open throughout construction
  • U.S. Route 24/65 over Moss Creek Drainage Ditch, approximately 4 miles south of Missouri Route 10
    • Aug. 8 – early December
    • The road will be narrowed to one lane only, with temporary traffic signals directing motorists through the work zone.

Crews will be working five days each week but work zones will remain in place around-the-clock. Some work may be completed on Saturdays, if necessary.

The remaining five bridges in the project will be completed in 2023 according to the tentative schedule below:

  • U.S. Route 24 northbound over BNSF Railroad just south of the U.S. Route 65 interchange, Feb. 14 – May 19, 2023
  • U.S. Route 24 over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, Outer Road 24 and Missouri 10, Feb. 14 – May 23, 2023
