ST. JOSEPH, Mo – More than 14 miles of Carroll County U.S. Route 24, east of Carrollton, will be resurfaced beginning Monday, Aug. 8. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to complete the resurfacing of U.S. Route 24 from U.S. Route 65 in Carrollton to 1.5 miles east of Route 41, near DeWitt.
Crews plan to begin with five days of pavement repairs followed by approximately two weeks of milling and paving the mainline of U.S. Route 24. Crews will move to the shoulders for seven days of milling, paving and rock. Installation of rumble strips and final roadway striping will complete the project which is expected to wrap up by the end of September.
For the duration of the project, flaggers and a pilot car will guide motorists through the work zone. One lane of U.S. Route 24 will remain open at all times, with a 12-foot width restriction. Some brief side street closures may be necessary.
All work is weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
