Springfield, Greene County – Drivers can expect lane and ramp closings, traffic shifts, and possible delays on I-44 and a bridge CLOSURE on Missouri Route 744/Mulroy Road in northeast Springfield when a pavement improvement and bridge rehabilitation project begins the week of July 11, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Project Facts:
- Replace pavement on I-44 at Missouri Route 744/Mulroy Road interchange (mile marker 84)
- Extend both eastbound I-44 ramps and the westbound I-44 on-ramp
- Install I-44 median drainage improvements
- Seal Missouri Route 744/Mulroy Road bridge driving surface over I-44
Contractor crews plan to have the I-44 pavement improvements completed by August 2022 and the Route 744/Mulroy Road bridge rehabilitation completed by September 2022. This project also includes Chestnut Expressway Pavement Improvement Project between I-44 and Broadview Place which was completed June 17, 2022.
Traffic Impacts:
- Drivers should not pass in the work zone due to narrowed driving lanes
- Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas
- Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
- Drivers should look for an alternate route
- Crews will work both daytime and nighttime hours
