Carroll County Route Z roadway slide repair project about to begin

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – A project to repair a roadway slide on Carroll County Route Z between Route C and County Road 217 is scheduled to begin Monday, June 13, 2022. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Mera Excavating, LLC to complete the repair project. The roadway has been closed since May 18, 2020, due to deterioration caused by the slide creating an unsafe condition for motorists.

The work will consist of rock fill at the slide location, edge drain installation, and erosion control measures. When the slide has been repaired, the roadway where the slide occurred will be resurfaced. The contractor plans to have all repairs completed and the roadway reopened to traffic on or before Aug. 12, 2022.

Until the project is complete, motorists will need to continue to use an alternate route.

Drivers are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades. For your own safety, and the safety of road workers, never drive around barricades.

All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
