SIKESTON — Beginning Monday, June 13, the flashing yellow arrow at the Route 61 and Veterans Memorial Drive signal in Cape Girardeau, Missouri will be in use. This signal is located just east of the Center Junction diverging diamond interchange.
A flashing yellow arrow will indicate left turns are permitted, but drivers must first yield to oncoming traffic before proceeding with caution.
The signal was installed during construction of the DDI, but the flashing yellow arrow wasn’t operational since drivers were making a u-turn at this location during construction.
“Traffic has adjusted to the DDI and Veterans signal. Now, utilizing the flashing yellow arrow will help improve traffic flow,” said Senior Traffic Studies Specialist Jake Butler.
The signals will also display a solid green arrow when left turning traffic has the right of way. A solid yellow arrow will indicate drivers should prepare to stop or complete the turn if in the intersection.
