Postponed: Mercer County Route D bridge rehabilitation project delayed

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – A project to rehabilitate the Sandy Creek Bridge on Mercer County Route D, south of U.S. Route 136, that was scheduled to close to all traffic on Monday, June 6, has been postponed again. Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., contacted with The Missouri Department of Transportation, now anticipates beginning construction the week of June 13. More information, including an exact closure date, is expected early next week.

The project to replace the bridge deck includes bringing the bridge up to current standards, improving the driving surface and removing the current load posting which limits the speed of vehicles greater that 18 tons.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
