MoDOT emergency bridge repair of eastbound Interstate 44 at Eureka extended through Wed., June 1

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Significant traffic delays are occurring for motorists traveling on eastbound Interstate 44 at the Meramec River near Eureka as crews continue emergency bridge expansion joint repairs.

Crews expect to reopen the two right lanes of eastbound I-44 by Sunday morning, May 29. Then crews will switch and close the left lane of eastbound I-44 to complete expansion joint repairs. At that time, only the two right lanes of eastbound I-44 will be open.  The left lane closure is expected to remain in place until Wednesday, June 1 and could impact the morning commute.

MoDOT is urging motorists to consider alternate routes for eastbound I-44 as they approach this emergency work zone. Eastbound I-44 traffic can choose to exit at Gray Summit and continue east on Route 100. Drivers can also choose to exit at Route 109 in Eureka and then proceed on Route 109 to Route 100. Other bypass options include Route 30 and Route 21.
