REMINDER: Atchison County Route 111 to close Friday for bridge project

Nightly closures on I-29 May 20-23

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is reminding motorists of a closure on Atchsion County Route 111 over Interstate 29, just south of Rock Port at Exit 107, for a bridge rehabilitation project. Contractors from Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., working with MoDOT, plan to close Route 111 to all traffic at the bridge on Friday, May 20. The roadway will remain closed through July.

During the closure, Route 111 traffic will be directed over a signed detour on U.S. Route 136 and I-29.

The interstate will be closed under Route 111 from Friday, May 20 to Monday, May 23, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily. During these closures, interstate traffic will be diverted to the on and off ramps at Exit 107. This closure under the bridge is for the safety of motorists on I-29, during the removal of the bridge deck on Route 111.

While interstate traffic is utilizing the ramps during the bridge deck removal, motorists on Route 111 will not be able to access the interstate via the ramps. This is being done in the interest of driver safety. When interstate traffic resumes each morning, the ramps will reopen to Route 111 traffic. The ramps are expected to remain open through the completion of the project.

Motorists should expect delays.
