HANNIBAL – Drivers can expect to experience temporary traffic impacts, beginning the week of April 11, as resurfacing work is scheduled to start on 7.8 miles of Macon County Route PP, from U.S. Route 63 to Route V, near Macon with plans for completion by mid-May.
“Traffic will be reduced to one lane during the day at the location where crews are actively working," explained Missouri Department of Transportation Resident Engineer Shane Viers. “For the safety of the crews and the traveling public, we would like to remind drivers to be attentive in work zones and put down your cell phones to eliminate distractions,” he added.
The $3,574,336 contract, awarded last winter to Capital Paving & Construction, LLC, includes two additional projects at the following locations which are scheduled to begin early May:
- U.S. Route 24 in Randolph County, resurfacing and adding shoulders from 0.9 mile east of U.S. Route 63 to the Monroe County line near Milton, the total length of improvements being 5.8 miles.
- Route Z in Randolph County, resurfacing from Rte. DD to U.S Route 63 near Cairo, the total length of improvements being 3.3 miles.
Flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone. Workers will be present during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, weather permitting. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. All projects included in the contract are tentatively scheduled to be complete by late July. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
