Franklin County, MO -- Starting Monday, March 14, motorists in St. Clair, MO will experience ramp and lane closures as crews begin work to rehabilitate and redeck bridges over Interstate 44 on Missouri Routes 30 and 47 and replace pavement on all four ramps at the Route 47 interchange.
During the first stage of the project, temporary traffic signals will be installed, and shoulder work will be constructed on the ramp at the Route 30 interchange to accommodate increased traffic from the Route 47 interchange when closed. Workers will remove the existing aggregate shoulders and new asphalt will be put in its place. Various ramps will be closed between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, March 14-18.
The second phase of the project, to begin March 24, will replace the Route 47 bridge deck over I-44. To perform this work, Route 47 will be reduced from five to two lanes. All ramps at the Route 47 interchange will be closed during the bridge deck reconstruction. These closures will be in place from March 24 until mid-September. The only time the ramps will be utilized is during the bridge demolition scheduled for Friday through Sunday, April 1-3, with lane closures as follows:
- Friday, April 1: I-44 single lane closure starts at 8 p.m. with a full closure in place from 9 p.m. – 9 a.m. All eastbound I-44 traffic will be diverted up and over the ramps. Route 47 will be a complete closure at this time and a detour will be in place sending traffic to the Route 30 interchange. A single lane closure will also be in place on westbound I-44 from 8:30 p.m. – 9 a.m.
- Saturday, April 2: Westbound I-44 single lane closure starts at 8 p.m. with a full closure in place from 9 p.m.- 9 a.m. All westbound I-44 traffic will be diverted up and over the ramps. Route 47 will be a complete closure at this time and a detour will be in place sending traffic to the Route 30 interchange. A single lane closure will also be in place on eastbound I-44 from 8 p.m. – 9 a.m.
- Sunday, April 3: I-44 eastbound and westbound single lane closure starts at 9 p.m. with a full closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will be open to traffic by 5 a.m. Monday, April 4. I-44 traffic will be diverted up and over the ramps and Route 47 traffic will be diverted to Route 30.
