Crews will soon begin construction of the new I-29 & Waukomis Dr. Bridge

PLATTE COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will soon begin work to replace the I-29 and Waukomis Dr. Bridge in Platte County. The bridge, which was built in 1957 has reached its projected service life. All work is weather dependent.

MoDOT will make the following changes as part of work to replace the bridge:

Crews will close various lanes of northbound and southbound I-29 between North Oak Trafficway and 56th from Wednesday, March 16 until Thursday, December 1 for bridge work.

Crews will close the Route 169 northbound ramp to I-29 northbound from Wednesday, March 16 until Thursday, December 1 for bridge work

Crews will close the Route 169 southbound ramp to I-29 northbound from Wednesday, March 16 until Thursday, December 1 for bridge work

Crews will close the I-635 northbound ramp to I-29 southbound from Wednesday, March 16 until Thursday, December 1 for bridge work

Crews will close various lanes of northbound and southbound NW Waukomis Dr. underneath I-29 between NW 53rd and 51st Ter. from Wednesday, March 16 until Thursday, December 1 for bridge work

Motorists are asked to follow the posted detours during construction.

This is all part of a dual replacement bridge project. Crews completed the replacement the I-29 Bridge over 56th St. back in November of 2021.

These bridge replacement projects are included in Gov. Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
