MoDOT: Greene County Routes MM & ZZ Corridor Project in Republic Focus of Public Meeting February 28

Republic, Greene County – Area residents are invited to a public meeting to discuss four proposed projects to reduce traffic delays and increase safety at various intersections on a new Greene County Route MM & ZZ Corridor in Republic, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The come-and-go style meeting will be held 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 28, at Republic Community Center in Community Rooms A and B, 711 E. Miller Rd., Republic. NO FORMAL PRESENTATION IS PLANNED. Those who attend may come at any time between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to learn about the projects and ask questions.

Those unable to attend the in-person meeting can view exhibits and get project timeline information by visiting an online public meeting at www.modot.org/southwest.

The meeting will include a 12-day comment period through Friday, March 11. Comments can be submitted by email to swcr@modot.mo.gov, an online form found on the online public meeting website, or mailed to the MoDOT Southwest District Office, 3025 E. Kearney St., Springfield, MO 65803, postmarked by Friday, March 11.

Project highlights:

  • Widen Route MM to five lanes between I-44 and Farm Road 160
  • Intersection improvements on Route MM between I-44 and Farm Road 160
  • Build roundabout at Route MM (Brookline Avenue) and Farm Road 160 intersection
  • Build new road connecting Route MM at Farm Road 160 to Route 60
  • Build a bridge over BNSF Railroad south of Haile Street
  • Build intersection connecting new Route MM to Route 60 west of Commercial Avenue/Farm Road 103
  • Build new road connecting new Route MM at Route 60 to Route ZZ (Wilson’s Creek Boulevard)/Route M (Republic Road)
  • Build a bridge over BNSF Railroad at Farm Road 103
  • Build roundabout at new Route MM and Route ZZ (Wilson’s Creek Boulevard)/Route M (Republic Road) intersection
  • Close railroad crossings at Route 60 and Farm Road 93/172, Route 60 and Farm Road 170, Route MM and Farm Road 168, and East Haile Street/Orr Street in Brookline

Construction of the first phase of improvements is planned to start in 2024. Construction of the second phase is scheduled to begin in 2025 with potential future projects being developed from the remaining prioritized concepts as funding becomes available.

Funding for portions of the proposed projects includes applying for the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) federal grant through the Ozarks Transportation Organization and cost-share with the City of Republic. The estimated project cost of the first two proposed projects phases combined is $44.1 million.
