Jefferson County - Motorists traveling along Route H between Maness Rd. and Dodson Ln. in Jefferson County will have to use alternate routes. MoDOT crews closed this stretch of Route H due to a box culvert failure. Signs will direct local traffic to detours around the closure, which is near Route 21, west of DeSoto.
According to Area Engineer Stephen O’Connor, the box culvert was already on contract to be replaced in late spring. MoDOT received calls on Monday reporting a pothole at the site and found that the culvert had collapsed, and full closure of the site was necessary.
“The safety of motorists is a priority and at this point the most effective safety method is to totally close the roadway,” said O’Connor.
Currently, it is not known how long the closure will last, but the project is being expedited. MoDOT will share additional information once it becomes available.
