U.S. Route 36 overpass in Hamilton struck by vehicle

Traffic on Route 13 narrowed to one-lane over U.S. Route 36

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The U.S. Route 36 overpass in Hamilton has suffered damage due to being struck by a high-profile vehicle. A crash in September 2021 had already damaged the bridge. Damage from today’s crash is currently being evaluated by inspectors from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Due to damage to the bridge, Route 13 is now narrowed to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction. Temporary traffic signals are in place to guide motorists. Left-hand turns onto Route 13 from U.S. Route 36 will not be allowed in any direction. The signals, turning and width restrictions, and one-lane roadway will remain in place until further notice.
