Update on Route 3 in Randolph County

HANNIBAL – While Missouri Route 3 in Randolph County will remain closed until further notice between U.S. Route 24 and Route BB in Randolph County due to a slide that is impacting the road, the Missouri Department of Transportation has received a report from its consultant, HNTB.  “The report reviewed soil conditions, slopes of the pits on either side of the road, and the excavated caves below this area to ensure we have a viable solution to the slide,” explained MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Untiedt.  “The report determined we should be able to shift the road to the west by 10’-15’, lower it by 5’-10’, and find a stable solution,” he stated.

The next step in the process to stabilize the road is to work with a consultant to complete detailed design plans that can be put out for bid for construction.   “The consultant will also be able to give us an estimate of the dates when construction will start and finish,” Untiedt added.
