Progress on Baltimore Street Project Continues

HANNIBAL –  The improvements on Business U.S. 63 /Baltimore Street in Kirksville continue  as crews are finishing the sidewalk between Normal Street and Park Avenue next week, weather permitting. This will cause little impact to the traveling public.

“Motorists in the area may have noticed a change in signal timings within the project limits, and these are only temporary,” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Amy Crawford.  Intersection signals are currently set on timers; this is part of the normal process of updating the signal equipment which should be completed next week.  “We appreciate motorist’s patience and attention to safety throughout the course of this project,” Crawford added.

This project includes resurfacing, American with Disabilities (ADA) improvements and drainage improvements extending from just north of Illinois Street to just south of Patterson Street.  The drainage and resurfacing portions of the project were completed in the Summer/Fall of 2021 with only a few sidewalk improvements and signal installations remaining.

The contract was awarded to Krupp Construction, of Ellisville, Illinois, in the amount of $4,940,992.78. The City of Kirksville will be contributing $111,251.20 towards the project for the addition of some sidewalk in the project area.
