Upcoming Bridge and Ramp Improvements Will Alter Traffic in Franklin County

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is preparing for major bridge and ramp improvements that will alter traffic patterns in Franklin County.  The improvements, which will begin in early spring, will take place concurrently on Missouri Routes HH, 30 and 47. The work is part of Missouri’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for fiscal year 2022 and included in Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s 2019 Focus on Bridges program.

Improvements will include demolishing the bridge over Calvey Creek on Route HH and replacing it.  The Route HH bridge over Calvey Creek is approximately 18 miles northeast of Interstate 44. During construction, Route HH over the creek will be closed to motorists in both north and south directions.  Traffic will be directed to detour around the area.

Additional bridge work in Franklin County will be conducted on Routes 30 and 47 over Interstate 44 in St. Clair, MO.  During the first stage of the project, temporary traffic signals will be installed, and shoulder work will be constructed on the ramp at Route 30 interchange to accommodate additional traffic from the Route 47 interchange when closed.  During the second phase, Route 47 will be closed to allow for bridge rehabilitation and pavement repairs on all four ramps at the I-44 interchange.  Once work is completed, the final stage of the project will reopen Route 47 and close Route 30 for bridge rehabilitation.  During this time, traffic from the Route 30 interchange will be detoured to the Route 47 interchange.

MoDOT will soon be soliciting bids for construction of the improvements package and work is expected to begin in March 2022.  All work is scheduled to be completed by summer 2023.
