COLUMBIA - The right southbound lane of Rangeline Street from Vandiver Drive to the eastbound off ramp to Interstate 70 will be closed from Sept. 14 to Sept. 18 to allow for a new storm sewer to be installed as part of the project to replace the Interstate 70 bridges at Rangeline, Business Loop 70 and Garth Avenue. One southbound lane will remain open during this time.
In addition, the westbound Interstate 70 on and off ramps at Rangeline and the eastbound on ramp at I-70 and Rangeline will be closed from 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16 until 5 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17. The right northbound lane of Rangeline from the entrance to Boone Electric Cooperative through the intersection of the westbound off ramp to I-70 will also be closed during this timeframe. These closures will allow the contractor on the project, Emery Sapp and Sons, to perform asphalt and drainage work.
"There will be one full day where one southbound lane and one northbound lane of Rangeline will be closed at the same time," said Travis Koestner, assistant district engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation's Central District. "There will be one lane open in each direction. Still, we encourage drivers to use other routes, such as Providence Road, during this time."
Message boards along I-70 will notify motorists of the lane and ramp closures.
The $18 million design-build project, which also includes building new roundabouts on the north and south sides of I-70 at the Business Loop 70/West Boulevard interchange and at Rangeline, is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 1, 2016.
