JACKSON COUNTY – MoDOT Kansas City will be completing overnight asphalt resurfacing along eastbound and westbound U.S. 40 between Sterling Ave. and I-70 beginning on Monday, Aug. 9, until approximately the end of the month. Work will be completed over night beginning at 7 p.m. each evening until approximately 6 a.m. each morning. This work will require various lane closures in the area. Crews will begin work along eastbound U.S. 40 in the left most lane at I-70 and will work their way towards Sterling Ave. Once crews reach Sterling Ave., they will turn around and work along one lane of westbound U.S. 40 back towards I-70. They will continue this pattern until all lanes and shoulders have been resurfaced. Motorists should expect various lane closures and delays as well as the potential for ramp closures. All work is weather permitting.
Please be patient and considerate to your fellow motorists. Use the zipper merge and take turns at merge points. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE ZONES. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. For potential impacts to traffic, please review KC Scout cameras at http://www.kcscout.net or consult our real-time traffic partner, WAZE.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
