TRAFFIC ALERT: Nighttime Lane Reductions, Traffic Delays on Route 171 in Jasper Co. July 26-Aug. 16

Where: Missouri Route 171 between Centennial Avenue in Webb City and Fir Road in Airport Drive along with short segments of Route 43 (Main Street) on either side of the roundabout at Stone’s Corner

When: 8 p.m.-6 a.m., Monday-Saturday, July 26-August 16

What: Contractor crews will remove the old driving surface on Route 171 and replace it with a new asphalt surface

Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic will be reduced each night to one lane where contractor crews are working
  • Crews will begin in the westbound lanes between Centennial Avenue and Oakland Street in Webb City
  • When that work is complete, contractor crews will work in the eastbound lanes between Oakland Street and Centennial Avenue
  • The contractor will then repeat the process, beginning in the westbound lanes, between Oakland Street and Fir Road in Airport Drive
  • Drivers should use caution when traveling through the work zone and watch for crews and equipment working close to traffic
  • All lanes will be OPEN to traffic during daytime hours and weekends
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zones
  • No signed detours
  • Drivers are urged to find alternate routes to avoid the work zone

(Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule)

Details: This work is part of a project to resurface approximately 26 miles of Route 171 between the Missouri/Kansas state line and I-49 along with relocating the intersection of Routes 171/96/YY near Carl Junction.

  • Prime contractor: APAC-Central Inc., Springfield
  • Total construction costs: $9.8 million
  • Contract completion date: December 15, 2021
