MoDOT Releases Details Regarding Howard Route 40 Bonne Femme Creek Bridge Deck Replacement Project

Public Invited to Comment Online through July 23

HOWARD COUNTY - Information is now available regarding the rehabilitation of the Bonne Femme Creek Bridge Deck on U.S. Route 40 bridge over Bonne Femme Creek, east of New Franklin. The Missouri Department of Transportation is inviting nearby residents and travelers to share their thoughts.

The 73-year-old bridge has reached the point where re-decking the bridge is necessary to extend the life and usability of the bridge by up to 30 years.

Route 40 will be closed at the bridge during construction. This project will be awarded in required combination with the Howard County Route 40 replacement over Salt Creek/Katy Trail and Howard County Route 240 Spur over Moniteau Creek.

Only one bridge on Route 40 will be closed at a time. Specific lane closure information will be announced by MoDOT through signs, media releases and social media when a timeline for the project has been established.

This project is expected to begin in 2022 and be completed in early 2023.

Motorists and area residents can ask questions or provide feedback on this project using the digital comment form at modot.org/Howard40BonneFemme. The online public comment period is open through Friday, July 23.

For more information and updates about this project or other transportation-related matters, please call 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636) or follow the MoDOT Central Missouri District on Facebook and Twitter for project updates.
