Two Roads Will Close in Lewis County for Bridge Replacements

HANNIBAL- Weather permitting, Monday, July 19, the bridge located on Route K, over the Middle Fabius River, 1.9 miles south of Route Y near Labelle, will close for a bridge replacement project with the anticipation of completion in early November.

“The new bridge will be a total of twenty-four feet wide, four feet wider than the existing bridge built in 1959,” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Amy Crawford.

The contract also includes a bridge replacement project located on Route C over Durgen’s Creek, approximately one mile west of Route P near LaGrange. “Work to replace the current 84-year-old bridge is scheduled to begin with the closure on August 9,” Crawford said. The contractor will have 90 days to complete the project with an expected completion by late October.

Both bridge replacement projects are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

The contract for these projects was awarded earlier this year to Bleigh Construction Company of Hannibal, Missouri for $1,698,197. Signs will be in place to notify motorists of the upcoming closure.
