St. Joseph, Mo. – A resurfacing project in northern Platte County is scheduled to begin after the Independence Day holiday. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the $5,260,378.39 project to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. at their January 2021 meeting. The project includes guardrail improvements and resurfacing of Interstate 29 from Route 273 to the Buchanan County line.
One lane in each direction of I-29 will remain open during the work and a 12-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. Crews will work Monday through Saturday.
July 6 – 12 – Concrete pavement repairs
- Repairs will begin on Tuesday, July 6, in the northbound lanes, then move to the southbound lanes. This portion of the work is expected to continue for one week. One lane will be closed around the work. The lane closures could remain up around-the-clock, if needed, to allow the concrete to cure.
July 6 through early September – Guardrail improvements
- Crews will begin in the southbound lanes on Tuesday, July 6. When complete, they will move to the northbound lanes. One lane will be closed around the work which will continue through early September.
Asphalt pavement repairs and asphalt resurfacing is planned to begin in early September. All phases of the project are expected to be complete in late October.
