St. Joseph, Mo. – The schedule has been revised for multiple ramp closures at the northern interchange of Interstate 229 and I-29 this week. The closures are part of a resurfacing project on I-229. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the $5,599,536.83 resurfacing project to Herzog Contracting Corp., of St. Joseph. The project extends from the U.S. Route 71 intersection in Andrew County to Route 371 (22nd Street) in Buchanan County and is expected to continue through September.
Updates schedule of ramp closures:
- Now through Tuesday, June 22 (around-the-clock closure): Northbound I-229 to southbound I-29 (Exit 14A)
- Thursday, June 17: Southbound U.S. Route 71 to southbound I-229, 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Thursday, June 17: Northbound I-29 ramp to southbound I-229 (Exit 56B), 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Saturday, June 19: Southbound I-29 to southbound I-229 (Exit 56B), 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Motorists will need to use an alternate route during the ramp closures.
One lane in each direction of I-229 will remain open during the work and a 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. Crews will work during daylight hours, Monday through Saturday.
