Interstate 229 ramp to St. Joseph Avenue to close for one week

St. Joseph, Mo. – Shoulder improvments will close the northbound Interstate 229 ramp to U.S. Route 59 (St. Joseph Avenue) this week. The shoulder work is part of a larger resurfacing project on I-229 from U.S. Route 71 in Andrew County to Route 371 (22nd Street) in Buchanan County. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the $5,599,536.83 project to Herzog Contracting Corp., of St. Joseph. The project is expected to continue through September.

Due to the nature of the work and for the safety of all motorists, the ramp will be closed around-the-clock beginning Thursday morning, June 10. The ramp is expected to reopen by Friday, June 18. All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
