Schedule Changed: Nightly shoulder, lane and ramp closures scheduled for portions of I-70 June 8-9

JACKSON COUNTY –MoDOT Kansas City has rescheduled shoulder and signage work along portions of Interstate 70 this week now beginning TONIGHT, Tuesday, June 8. This work will require various shoulder, lane and ramp closures. All work is weather permitting.

NEW: Tuesday, June 8

  • Crews will perform shoulder work along eastbound I-70 at approximately mile marker 17.2 beginning at 9 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Crews will perform shoulder work along eastbound I-70 approximately one mile before Wood Chapel Rd. beginning at 9 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Crews will perform shoulder work along eastbound I-70 at approximately mile marker 18.1 beginning at 9 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Crews will close the right lane of eastbound I-70 at the Woods Chapel Rd. exit beginning at 9 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning. The exit ramp to Woods Chapel Rd. will remain open.
  • Crews will be performing shoulder work along eastbound I-70 at the Woods Chapel Rd. exit ramp beginning at 9 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.

UPDATED: Wednesday, June 9

  • Crews will perform shoulder work along westbound I-70 approximately one mile before the Woods Chapel Rd. exit beginning at 10 p.m. until approximately 6:30 a.m. the following morning.
  • Crews will perform shoulder work along westbound I-70 at approximately mile marker 19.8 beginning at 10 p.m. until approximately 6:30 a.m. the following morning.
  • Crews will close the right lane of westbound I-70 at the Woods Chapel Rd. exit beginning at 10 p.m. until approximately 6:30 a.m. the following morning. The exit ramp to Woods Chapel Rd. will remain open.
  • Crews will be working along westbound I-70 at Woods Chapel Rd. requiring the closure of the lane to northbound Woods Chapel Rd. beginning at 10 p.m. until approximately 6:30 a.m. the following morning.

Please be patient and considerate to your fellow motorists. Use the zipper merge and take turns at merge points.  Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE ZONES. Buckle up. Phone down. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
